Minoan Art / by Chris Hall

What strange and beautiful art this is!  It is somehow both exotic and familiar.  Life beside the sea, leaping over bulls, mysterious goddesses from an unfamiliar pantheon . . . all depicted in colorful frescos.  The Minoan civilization was an Aegean Bronze Age civilization that arose on the island of Crete and flourished from approximately 2700 to 1450 BC.  Lost to the ages, it was rediscovered in the early 20th century.
